Anne Arundel County is a wide mix of housing: mid-century ramblers, split-levels with finished lower levels, 1990s colonials, and newer townhome communities. The right floor is rarely the same in a split-level basement as it is in a second-floor bedroom, so we plan floor by floor rather than house by house.
Grade level drives most of the decision. Below-grade and slab-on-grade rooms carry moisture risk that solid hardwood doesn't tolerate well, while upper floors are wide open to carpet or real wood. Sorting that out early prevents the most expensive kind of flooring mistake.
